In Karachi, university students have introduced an AI-driven robot designed to bolster Pakistan’s defense capabilities. Equipped with a high-powered laser gun, it can destroy targets within seconds, offering a cost-effective and safer alternative to traditional military methods.
The prototype, developed by students from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Khairpur Campus, is engineered to reduce casualties among security forces by enabling remote-controlled operations.
It can accurately identify and target both moving and stationary objects on land or in the air.
The project was unveiled at the 4th Research and Technology Showcase at the Karachi Expo Centre, drawing significant attention, including praise from Sindh’s chief minister.
If adopted, Pakistan could become the first Islamic nation and the fifth globally to implement such cutting-edge technology, joining countries like the US and South Korea.
Powered by a hybrid electric system, the laser gun eliminates the need for traditional ammunition, firing at the speed of light. With features like infrared sensors and advanced cameras, its current range of six feet could be extended for broader applications, such as intercepting missiles.

Is this a joke ? No disrespect to the student but this has been done numerous times already
Laser pointer exists .
Industrial lasers already have this capability . And no it cannot destroy targets but cause a burn. Any reflective surface can just reflect it .
This hype journalism is sad. Also 6 feet ? Are you serious ? That’s not far at all .
Also a far reaching requires 300 KW system. A full power station to operate.
What a stock of laughter… this country is full of jokers
Although he has done a great job but it is the reality that pakistan does not support young talent often these talents are couted by european countries and usa ,uk
