Pakistan Railways has introduced a revised refund policy for tickets purchased at point of sale (POS) counters and online through the RABTA app, according to a notification.
As per the official notification, passengers who bought tickets at POS counters can receive a 90% refund if they cancel 48 hours before departure. Cancellations made between 24 and 48 hours before departure will be eligible for an 80% refund, while those made within 24 hours will receive 70% of the ticket price.
If a passenger cancels within two hours of departure, they will be refunded 50% of the fare. In cases where a train is canceled or delayed by more than six hours, passengers will be entitled to a full refund, which they can collect from POS counters after presenting their original ticket and a copy of their CNIC.
For online bookings, refunds will be processed digitally through the original payment service provider. The refund terms remain the same as POS purchases, except that online tickets cannot be canceled once the train has departed.
“There will be no cancellation of online tickets when the departure time of the train is less than 1 hour and 30 minutes,” the notification added.
