The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Lahore, Dr. Athar Waheed, has announced new measures to enforce traffic laws strictly.
He stated that no one, including government officials, will be exempt from fines, and anyone violating traffic rules will face both fines and departmental action, including suspension from their jobs.
Dr. Waheed emphasized that adherence to traffic laws is mandatory for everyone. He confirmed that even police officers or personnel found breaking traffic rules would be fined and suspended.
As part of the initiative, free helmets have been distributed among traffic wardens, and it is now mandatory for both motorcycle riders and their passengers to wear helmets. Additionally, all passengers in vehicles, including those sitting next to the driver, must use seat belts for safety.
These steps are aimed at improving road safety and ensuring strict compliance with traffic regulations across Lahore.

I wait 15 to 20 minutes at times on mall road Istanbul chowk when the police chief needs to go from his office towards upper mall. Same when a LHC judge needs to come out of LHC.

In a country where there is hardly any law and ranks one of the highest in lawlessness, one can only laugh at this news item. Whosoever said ‘ suspension from service’ for breaking the traffic law needs to be further educated.
Easy to say but difficult to implement..
I can bet there will be a zero chance of any change. Police still roaming without number plates and name tags. Dolphin police still giving trouble to bikers on turns and corners.
Almost 90 percent of employees will suspend if cto really means no one is above the law.
