The Sindh government has refuted Punjab’s claim of setting up Pakistan’s first-ever government-funded facility for the treatment and rehabilitation of autistic children.
Sindh’s Senior Minister for Information, Sharjeel Inam Memon, dismissed the Punjab government spokesperson’s statement. He asserted that Sindh had already established the country’s first government-funded autism rehabilitation center in Karachi in 2018. He further highlighted that six such government-backed autism centers are currently operational in Sindh.

Memon advised Punjab to focus on promoting its achievements without distorting historical facts.
Punjab Responds
In response, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari remarked that those eager to compete with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz should strive to match her level of governance and performance. She criticized other provincial spokespersons for finding faults in Punjab’s projects instead of contributing to meaningful progress.
This isn’t the first time the two provinces have clashed over developmental claims. Previously, Sindh’s Information Minister had reminded Punjab’s CM that Karachi was the first city to introduce an electric bus service—two years before Punjab’s initiative.
