Pakistan’s interim head coach, Aqib Javed, has downplayed the threat posed by Jasprit Bumrah to Pakistan in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Speaking to reporters during his team’s training session in Lahore, Javed emphasized that Pakistan’s strategy would not revolve around countering Bumrah alone. “India should be more concerned about Bumrah’s fitness,” Javed stated confidently. “Having a bowler like Bumrah is an advantage, but it’s not as if we’ll plan everything around him,” he added.
Bumrah, who has been sidelined since early 2025 during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy due to persistent back spasms, remains a doubt for India’s Champions Trophy fixtures despite being named in the squad.
