Five Major Road Projects Approved in Punjab

The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved five major development projects with a total estimated cost of over Rs.  39.73 billion. The decision was made during the 63rd PDWP meeting.

The meeting was chaired by Planning and Development (P&D) Board Chairman Barrister Nabeel Ahmad Awan and attended by Secretary P&D Board Dr. Asif Tufail, Chief Economist Masood Anwar, along with other senior officials.

The approved projects include the construction of a road from Bahawalpur (N-5) to Jhangrah Sharqi Interchange (KLM) in District Bahawalpur, costing Rs. 4.93 billion. Another project involves the dualization of the road from Mian Channu (N-5) to Abdul Hakim Interchange (M-4) via Tulamba in District Khanewal, with an estimated cost of Rs. 3.03 billion.

Additionally, the committee sanctioned the dualization of the road from Gujranwala to M-2 Interchange at Kot Sarwar via Hafizabad in Districts Gujranwala and Hafizabad, at a cost of Rs. 13.23 billion. Another key project is the dualization of the Sargodha-Khushab-Mianwali Road in District Khushab, requiring Rs. 11.80 billion.

Lastly, Rs. 7.05 billion has been allocated for the widening and improvement of the road from Sialkot Cantt to Jassar Garrison in Districts Sialkot and Narowal.
