New Details Emerge About Samsung’s Slimmest Galaxy S Phone Yet

Before the official Galaxy S25 series launch, SmartPrix and OnLeaks shared CAD renders of a rumored model called the S25 Slim. However, when Samsung teased the device at its Unpacked event, it became clear that these early renders were inaccurate.

The design details and even the “Slim” moniker were incorrect, though Samsung had never officially confirmed the name. Now, SmartPrix has released a follow-up report in collaboration with OnLeaks, explaining what went wrong and providing updated insights on the Galaxy S25 Edge.

What Led to The Inaccurate Renders?

According to GizmoChina, Samsung initially tested two Galaxy S25 Edge prototypes. The leaked renders were based on an earlier prototype that featured three cameras and a slightly thicker design. However, Samsung decided to move forward with the second prototype with a slimmer build and only two cameras. This shift resulted in the final device having different thicknesses and camera specifications.

Design and Camera Changes

The original leak suggested the phone would measure 159 x 76 x 6.4mm, but the updated report indicates that the Galaxy S25 Edge will measure 158.2 x 75.5 x 5.84mm, making it one of the slimmest flagship smartphones. However, its ultra-thin design also means a noticeable camera bump, bringing the total thickness to 10mm. To counter this, Samsung has placed the cameras on a small island to prevent the cameras from protruding too much.

Well-known tipster Ice Universe has not yet confirmed the exact dimensions but claims the phone will feature a 3,900mAh battery. He also noted that the camera setup consists of a 200MP HP2 primary sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide lens, with no dedicated telephoto camera. Samsung appears to be relying on the high-resolution primary sensor to handle zoom functionality.

Expected Specifications

Samsung may equip the Galaxy S25 Edge with an LTPO OLED display, featuring a 120Hz refresh rate and 2,600 nits peak brightness. Samsung may also use Armor Aluminum and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 to enhance the device’s durability.

The company has not confirmed the processor, but reports suggest it might be the Snapdragon 8 Elite, similar to the rest of the S25 lineup. Other expected features include 12GB RAM, 512GB of storage, One UI 7 based on Android 15, and support for 25W wired and wireless charging.

Samsung is likely to unveil the Galaxy S25 Edge in April or May 2025. With more leaks expected in the coming weeks, additional details about the phone’s specifications and potential trade-offs will likely emerge.
