The Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA) has finalized the route and station plan for the Faisalabad Metro Bus Project and forwarded it to the Commissioner of Faisalabad for approval.
According to officials, the proposed mass transit system will feature 21 stations along its corridor, with the route plan prepared by engineering consultant NESPAK.
The Metro Bus service will begin from Tahir Pura near Faisalabad International Airport on Jhang Road and terminate at Faisal Town on Jaranwala Road.
The route will pass through several major areas, including Airport Chowk, Air Avenue, Mansoor Malangi Road, GC New Campus, Saifabad Mor, Gulfishan Colony, Ayub Colony, Pratap Nagar, GCU Main Campus, Rajbah Road, Montgomery Bazaar, Rail Bazaar, Railway Station, Abdullahpur, D-Ground, Al-Najaf Colony, Kahkashan Colony, Usmanabad, Bukhari, and Faisalabad Town.
Under the proposal, the 20.3-kilometer Orange Line will be served by 27 Metro buses and two trams. The project also includes the construction of two depots and seven U-turns to support operations.
Officials estimate the total cost of the project at Rs. 79 billion. The PMTA has also designated the city’s two planned mass transit corridors as the Red Route for Jhang Road and the Orange Route for Jaranwala Road.
