Under pressure from rising incidents of migrant boat disasters in the Mediterranean, several African nations have imposed strict visa policies on Pakistani travelers.
Some have revoked visa-on-arrival, while others have introduced tougher entry requirements.

As per reports, between 2023 and 2025, more than 1,000 Pakistanis lost their lives at sea while attempting the dangerous journey from Africa to European destinations.
After a recent boat accident off Libya’s coast, officials from Pakistan’s embassy in Tripoli traveled to Zawiya to coordinate with local authorities and hospitals regarding Pakistani victims.
The visa crackdown is not limited to Africa—Sri Lanka and Nepal have also tightened entry rules for Pakistani citizens. Authorities in both countries cited a surge in visa overstays and asylum applications as the reason for the new restrictions.
