The Punjab government has announced the introduction of a Special Student Travel Card to facilitate the daily commute for students. This decision was made during a cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
The travel card aims to provide students with affordable travel options within the mass transit system, helping them access educational institutions and other key destinations more easily. The cabinet also approved free travel for senior citizens and differently-abled individuals as part of an overhaul of public transport services.
Plans were also discussed to introduce a tram service and dedicated transport for differently-abled people to improve mobility and inclusivity. The Chief Minister has instructed the relevant authorities to expedite the student travel card.
