The Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar is set to draw thousands of devotees, prompting the district administration to declare a holiday in Jamshoro on February 17.
All government offices, schools, and public institutions in Sehwan will remain closed to accommodate the influx of pilgrims attending the annual spiritual gathering.
Known for its vibrant traditions, the event features dhamal, qawwali, and religious ceremonies at the saint’s shrine, attracting followers from across the country.
To maintain order, authorities have enhanced security, set up medical facilities, and introduced traffic control measures for the large crowds expected.
Earlier, the Sindh government finalized comprehensive security and administrative plans for the Urs. According to the plans, more than 5,000 police officers will be stationed throughout the area, with specialized units from the Counter-Terrorism Department, Bomb Disposal Squad, and Rapid Response Force ensuring visitor safety.
Entry points to the shrine will be equipped with walk-through gates and metal detectors, while biometric verification will be carried out using digital monitoring systems. Surveillance has also been intensified with additional CCTV cameras, and intelligence teams will remain on high alert to address any security concerns.
