Xiaomi is preparing to launch the Xiaomi 15 Ultra by the end of this month. In expectation of the release, CEO Lei Jun shared a camera sample on Weibo, showcasing its remarkable low-light capabilities. The image, captured using the 100mm periscope telephoto lens, strongly suggests that Xiaomi has made major improvements in night photography and zoom performance.
The sample was likely captured using the 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP9 sensor, which applies 4×4 pixel binning to greatly improve low-light performance. Furthermore, this lens supports 4.3x optical zoom and 100x AI-enhanced digital zoom, making it one of the most advanced periscope cameras available.
Given these improvements, Lei Jun emphasized that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra could set a new benchmark for night photography. Based on the shared image, this claim appears to hold.
Reports suggest that Apple will launch the iPhone SE 4 at $499, increasing the price by $70 compared to its predecessor, the iPhone SE (2022). Additionally, the device will feature a 2K micro-curved display, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, and satellite communication capabilities.
When it comes to photography, Xiaomi has included a quad-camera system with a 50MP LYT-900 primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, a 50MP telephoto lens, and a 200MP periscope sensor, ensuring versatility across different shooting conditions.
Moreover, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will house a 6,000mAh battery, supporting 90W wired and 50W wireless charging for quick and efficient power replenishment. While the Xiaomi 14 Ultra launched at 6,499 Yuan (~$890), Lei Jun has hinted that the next-generation model could see a price increase due to rising research and component costs.
With its exceptional camera system, AI-driven enhancements, and cutting-edge hardware, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is shaping up to be one of the most advanced flagship smartphones of the year.
