Sindh Declares Public Holiday for Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar’s Urs

The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on February 19 to mark the Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.

A notification issued by the Services, General Administration, and Coordination Department confirmed that all government and semi-government offices and educational institutions will remain closed on the day.

The annual Urs of the revered Sufi saint is expected to draw thousands of devotees from across the country. In anticipation of the large gathering, the district administration declared a public holiday in Jamshoro on February 17.

Government offices, schools, and public institutions in Sehwan remained closed to accommodate the influx of pilgrims. The Sindh government has implemented a comprehensive safety plan to ensure security during the celebrations.

Over 5,000 police personnel, including specialized units from the Counter-Terrorism Department, Bomb Disposal Squad, and Rapid Response Force, have been deployed in and around Sehwan. Authorities have also taken additional measures to manage crowd control and provide emergency assistance.

The Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar is one of the most significant spiritual gatherings, drawing devotees who come to pay their respects and participate in religious rituals.
