Lahore’s traffic police have enforced a new rule requiring motorcycle rickshaw and loader rickshaw drivers to wear helmets while driving. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore stated that those who fail to comply will face penalties.
To ensure awareness, the traffic police have launched a campaign to distribute helmets to drivers. The rule officially took effect yesterday, and strict action will be taken against violators.
This measure follows previous helmet mandates for motorcyclists in Lahore and Rawalpindi, aimed at improving road safety and reducing accidents.
In Lahore, the rule was introduced to protect riders and passengers, as authorities emphasized that passengers are just as vulnerable in accidents.
Meanwhile, in Rawalpindi, a similar law was enforced on February 1, with a fine of Rs. 2,000 for violators and the possibility of motorcycle impoundment. Officials stressed that these regulations are necessary to reduce head injuries and fatalities on the roads.
