An investigation has begun into the hiring of employees in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly based on fake degrees, with Peshawar University leading the probe.
Vice Chancellor Peshawar University met with KP Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati to discuss the matter. The meeting, held in the Speaker’s Chamber, was attended by senior officials, including Special Secretary for Administration Syed Waqar Shah, MPA Nisar Baz, and members of the university’s examination department.
The inquiry will verify the educational certificates and degrees of employees in the Assembly Secretariat to identify any fraudulent documents. The initiative aims to uphold merit and improve administrative integrity within the institution.
Speaker Babar Saleem Swati highlighted the importance of ensuring transparency in recruitment, stressing that the Assembly must set an example for other institutions.
He noted that for years, the Assembly functioned without a formal legislative act, leading to irregularities. However, a new law has been introduced to address these concerns.
The verification process has been handed over to university officials, with an Assembly officer assigned to oversee the scrutiny. The Speaker emphasized that the process should be completed efficiently to ensure that only qualified individuals hold positions within the Secretariat.
