KP Announces Punjab-Like Free Laptop Scheme for Students

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has announced a free laptop program for students across the province, vowing to ensure the same distribution percentage as Punjab.

“If Punjab allocates laptops to a specific proportion of students, we will do the same,” Gandapur stated.

He also urged Punjab’s administration to reciprocate by implementing a free health insurance scheme similar to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s.

Discussing healthcare initiatives, he emphasized, “Our entire population is covered under the Sehat Card Plus, and we have now introduced life insurance as well.” He called on Punjab to offer comparable benefits to its residents.

Gandapur further highlighted his government’s financial performance, claiming a 55% increase in provincial revenue despite economic hurdles. Comparing this to Punjab, he remarked, “Their revenue growth stands at just 12%. They should aim for 55% like us.”

On fiscal responsibility, he asserted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had achieved a budget surplus of Rs176 billion and was the only province to fulfill the International Monetary Fund (IMF) targets.

“Punjab was assigned an IMF surplus target of Rs300 billion but ended up with a deficit of Rs146 billion,” he pointed out.

Additionally, the chief minister announced a financial aid initiative for underprivileged brides, pledging support for the weddings of 4,000 deserving girls, with each receiving Rs200,000.

Criticizing Punjab’s governance, he challenged its leadership, stating, “I am open to a debate. Their performance does not even compare to 1% of ours.”
