Fakhar Zaman Broke Down in Tears After Injury During Champions Trophy Match [Video]

Following the announcement of Fakhar Zaman being ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared viral behind-the-scene footage of the star batter limping back to the pavilion after his dismissal, visibly distraught and consoled by his teammates, including fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Fakhar Zaman’s injury occurred in the very first over of Pakistan’s match against New Zealand on February 19, 2025, at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. While fielding, Fakhar fell awkwardly, leading to a muscular sprain that forced him to leave the field for medical assessment. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) later confirmed that he was being examined for the injury.

Despite not looking entirely fit, Fakhar came in to bat at number four but struggled to make an impact, scoring only 24 runs off 41 deliveries before being dismissed by Michael Bracewell. His early exit from the game was a significant blow to Pakistan’s batting lineup, which was already under pressure chasing a daunting target of 321 runs.

Fakhar later took to Instagram to express his feelings about the situation. He wrote,

I have been privileged enough to represent Pakistan multiple times with pride. Unfortunately, I’m now out of ICC Champions Trophy 2025, but surely Allah is the best planner. Grateful for the opportunity. I will be backing our boys in green from home.

Fakhar Zaman’s injury marks a significant setback for Pakistan, especially as he was a key player in their batting lineup. His absence is felt even more acutely given that he is the second opener to be ruled out of the tournament in recent days, following Saim Ayub’s injury during the South Africa tour.

In response to Fakhar’s injury, the Event Technical Committee of the Champions Trophy 2025 approved Imam-ul-Haq as his replacement in the Pakistan squad.
