For the first time in history, Lahore’s Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) of Police Operations dismissed 115 policemen on Tuesday for refusing to perform security duties during the ICC Champions Trophy matches at Gaddafi Stadium, according to 24NewsHD TV.
Sources revealed that some of the dismissed officers remained absent, while others either outright refused to take on the security responsibilities or delayed reporting to duty. The list of those terminated includes Atiq, Zain, Ali, Sheeraz, Shan, Zubair, Adi, and several others.
Ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025 matches, Punjab Police had implemented strict security measures. A total of 12,564 officers and personnel were deployed in Lahore and Rawalpindi.
