Samsung to Launch a Brand New Foldable Alongside Galaxy Z Series This Summer

Samsung is gearing up to enter the tri-fold smartphone market, following in the footsteps of Huawei, but with a distinctive design approach. Unlike Huawei’s Z-shaped fold seen on the Mate XT, Samsung’s version will feature a G-shaped folding mechanism. This design keeps the folding display completely protected when closed, whereas Huawei’s approach leaves part of the screen exposed. However, Samsung’s design requires an additional cover display, which Huawei’s device does not need.

According to a new rumor from etnews, Samsung plans to unveil its tri-fold device alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, ,most likely in July, as per usual. Reports suggest that mass production will begin in April, with Samsung acquiring the necessary components simultaneously.

Limited Production

Samsung’s tri-fold device is rumored to feature a 9.96-inch main display when fully unfolded, making it larger than the current foldable smartphones and just as big as modern-day tablets. It will rely on a 6.49-inch cover display for regular smartphone use when closed.

However, Samsung reportedly plans a limited production run, manufacturing only 200,000 units. This suggests that the company might initially release the device in select markets, similar to other experimental foldable devices in the past.

With foldable smartphones gaining popularity, Samsung’s tri-fold device could be a major leap forward, offering a more durable and practical design compared to existing solutions. More details are likely to emerge as we get closer to the expected July launch event.
