Bangladesh Likely to Host Pakistan For Limited-Overs Series

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is reportedly in the process of negotiating a potential white-ball series with Pakistan, tentatively scheduled for July or August 2025.

According to reports, a BCB official has confirmed that talks are ongoing, though a final decision has yet to be reached. Both boards are reportedly optimistic about the prospect of the series, which is expected to feature three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

The discussions gained momentum during a recent meeting between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and BCB President Faruque Ahmed in Dubai, held during the ongoing Champions Trophy, where the two teams are set to clash tomorrow.

Bangladesh is already scheduled to visit Pakistan in late May for a series of three ODIs and three T20Is as part of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Future Tours Programme (FTP). However, this new proposal aims to extend the cricketing calendar with another white-ball series in mid-2025.

Pakistan and Bangladesh’s cricket calendars are already packed. After the Champions Trophy, Bangladesh will head to Zimbabwe for a two-Test series in mid-April, followed by a series against Sri Lanka in June and July. This series will consist of two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is.

Following that, Bangladesh will host India in August and September for a series with the same format. Pakistan, meanwhile, is scheduled to play New Zealand in March and April following the Champions Trophy and will take on the West Indies on their home grounds beginning July 31.

The BCB’s ongoing discussions with the PCB over the additional series are a sign of growing collaboration in international cricket, as both nations seek to solidify their positions in the global game. With both nations looking to build squads for the future, the bilateral series presents golden opportunities for both to introduce new faces into the international setup.
