Authorities have launched a strict crackdown on kite flying, pigeon flying, and aerial firing near Bacha Khan International Airport and Risalpur Air Base, citing serious threats to aircraft safety.
The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has provided a list of offenders to the SSP Operations for immediate arrests and strict legal action. To reinforce safety measures, Section 144 has been imposed, and a ban on kite production and sales is being strictly enforced across the provincial capital.
High-Level Inspection and Action Plan
Commissioner Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mahsud, along with Base Commander Peshawar Yasir Khan, SSP Operations Masood Bangash, Assistant Commissioner Town Haroon Saleem, General Manager WSSP Ejaz Ahmad, and municipal officials, inspected areas surrounding the airport.
Officials briefed the commissioner that aerial firing and kite flying pose significant risks to aircraft during takeoff and landing. In response, SSP Operations has been directed to take immediate action against offenders listed by the PAF.
To further minimize risks, the General Manager of WSSP has been instructed to deploy additional personnel and enhance cleaning operations around the airport to reduce bird activity.
Expanded Crackdown and Preventive Measures
A coordination meeting has been called, summoning all assistant commissioners and local SHOs to reinforce the crackdown on aerial firing and ensure strict enforcement of the ban.
Additionally, similar safety measures have been ordered for Risalpur Air Base, with Nowshera’s administration, police, and municipal authorities directed to implement firm actions against offenders.
To further enhance safety, authorities have also issued immediate directives for the drainage of rainwater from a vacant government plot near the airport to eliminate bird hazards.
The government remains committed to ensuring aviation safety through the strict enforcement of these regulations and swift action against violators.
