Private Schools Stopped From Taking 2-Month Fee From Matric Students

The Punjab Education Department has strictly barred private schools from collecting tuition fees for March and April from matriculation students after receiving complaints of unauthorized charges.

Secretary of Schools Education, Khalid Nazir Wattoo, has directed all district education authorities to ensure compliance, warning schools against demanding advance payments. He stated, “Schools are not allowed to charge students for March and April,” and emphasized that strict action would be taken against any institution violating these orders.

However, reports suggest that some private schools have withheld roll number slips from students who have not yet paid their dues.

The education secretary assured that these complaints are under review, and authorities will take necessary measures to enforce the directive.

With matriculation exams beginning on March 3, the Punjab Education Department is committed to easing the financial burden on students and their families. Schools found guilty of charging additional fees will face disciplinary action.
