Apple is reportedly making major design changes to its upcoming iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models, potentially boosting sales in key markets like China. Leaks suggest that the iPhone 17 Pro will feature a mix of aluminum and glass, with a prominent camera bar replacing the traditional square camera module. Newly leaked CAD renders further support these claims, hinting at a design overhaul.
The latest CAD renders, shared by Sonny Dickson on X, reveal the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, and iPhone 17 Pro. Apple plans to introduce the iPhone 17 Air as an ultra-thin model, featuring a single-lens 48MP camera housed inside a camera bar that spans the top of the device. However, unlike the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro, it will not support spatial video recording, as that requires a dual-camera setup.
The standard iPhone 17 retains a familiar look, featuring a vertical dual-camera system capable of recording spatial videos. This design may appeal to users who prefer a more traditional aesthetic.
Apple is expected to introduce significant changes to the iPhone 17 Pro series, designing it with an aluminum and glass build and a large camera bar extending across the back. This module will house a triple-lens camera system, a LiDAR scanner, an LED flash, and a microphone. Whether these design choices are purely aesthetic or aimed at enhancing features remains unclear.
Apple plans to announce the iPhone 17 lineup in September, following its usual release schedule. As the launch date approaches, more details should emerge.
