Google is working on a new Gemini model to offer personalized responses based on user search history. This information comes from a teardown of the latest beta version of the Google app, revealing a feature called “Gemini with Personal Context”, or simply “Personalization” in the model selector.
The new model appears to be opt-in at first, meaning users must enable it manually. If activated, Gemini will provide customized assistance by analyzing previous search queries and tailoring its responses based on personal interests and past searches. However, Google clarifies that only this specific model will have access to search history if granted permission.
Users will have the option to disconnect the model from their search history whenever they choose. This feature has been designed to prioritize user privacy and control over data. Initial tests show that even when disconnected, the model can still produce accurate and relevant responses related to previous searches or specific topics.
The real advantage of Gemini Personalization would be its ability to integrate search history into responses for broader queries. With this knowledge, the AI could provide more relevant answers, better aligning with individual preferences and past interactions.
Although details on how Google will position this feature remain unclear, the public rollout may happen soon. Once available, it could mark a notable step toward AI-driven, user-specific assistance, enhancing how Google’s AI interacts with and understands its users.
