Here’s Why Google One Subscription Price Has Increased in Pakistan

The price of a Google One subscription has recently increased in Pakistan. The Basic plan, which grants 100GB storage, now costs Rs. 419 a month, up from Rs. 219 last month. Customers paying annually will only be affected on their next billing date. The Basic plan now costs Rs. 4,199 a year.

Here are all the new monthly prices.

A Google One subscription allows you to buy more storage for your Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos, letting you unlock more than the standard 15GB you get on every free account. More expensive tiers unlock more features, such as unlimited Magic Editor for Photos, Google Workspace Premium, Gemini Advanced, and more.

Why the Price Hike?

There have been rumors going around that the price increase has to do with Pakistan’s current exchange rate with the USD, but that is not true for two reasons.

Firstly, the exchange rate has not changed much for a while, hence, it does not justify a 100% price increase. Secondly, the pricing update was a blanket change for many countries, not just Pakistan. It has affected more than 15 other countries, including:

  • Australia
  • Brazil
  • Chile
  • Colombia
  • Egypt
  • Ghana
  • Indonesia
  • Japan
  • Kazakhstan
  • Mexico
  • Nigeria
  • Paraguay
  • Peru
  • Philippines
  • Sri Lanka
  • Türkiye
  • United Republic of Tanzania

Here is what the support page says:

When current Google One members renew their subscription on or after 21 March 2025, they’ll be charged the new price. If existing members don’t want to renew their subscription at the new price, they can cancel their membership on or before 20 March 2025.

We reached out to Google support to clarify the matter and were told the price increase is because “the cost of providing reliable and secure cloud storage and related services has increased.” Apparently, this has to do with infrastructure maintenance, data center expansion, and the ongoing development of new features.

  • Thats simply not the case its primary benefit is monetary benefit obviously its actually crazy prices are going down globally for cloud services. Meanwhile some gaints like google really introducing 100% price hikes its not cool
