Apple’s iOS Software Could Get a Major Redesign Soon

Apple is planning a major visual overhaul for iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16, according to a report from Bloomberg. Apple plans to announce the redesign at WWDC 2025 in June, introducing the biggest visual change to iOS since iOS 7 and the most significant macOS update since Big Sur.

The changes will affect many parts of Apple’s operating systems, including icons, menus, apps, windows, and system buttons. The goal is to simplify the user experience and make the design more consistent across devices, especially between iPhones, iPads, and Macs. The updated look reportedly draws inspiration from visionOS, the software powering Apple’s Vision Pro headset.

While Apple has been working toward tighter integration across its ecosystem, Bloomberg notes that the company does not plan to merge its platforms. iOS, iPadOS, and macOS will remain separate but more visually aligned.

The redesign is expected to modernize the interface while keeping the systems familiar to long-time users.

Apple has not yet announced the official date for WWDC 2025, but the event traditionally takes place in early June. In addition to unveiling the new operating system designs, Apple plans to reveal more about its AI strategy, which it could integrate into the upcoming software updates. Maybe we will also get to hear something about the Siri AI upgrade, which has been facing delays.

With this redesign, Apple is setting the stage for the next generation of its platforms, offering a cleaner and more modern experience for its growing user base.
