Twitter/X Faces Disruption in Pakistan and Other Countries Amid Cyberattacks

If you’re facing issues in loading Twitter/X, it’s not just you. The service is facing disruption for many throughout the country, as confirmed through Downdetector reports, which showed a spike around 1:45 pm Pakistan time. Many at ProPakistani are also having trouble with X.

According to Downdetector, the issue appears to be affecting many other countries, and it likely has to do with the “massive cyberattacks” claimed by X owner Elon Musk on Monday, following widespread outages that affected numerous users.

Musk stated in a post that while the platform experiences daily attacks, this particular incident involved significant resources. He suggested the involvement of either a large, organized group or a nation-state, adding that tracing efforts were underway.

Later on Monday, during an appearance on Fox Business, Musk mentioned that the attackers used IP addresses originating from the Ukraine area, though he did not elaborate further.

However, cybersecurity specialists quickly noted that IP addresses from Ukraine do not definitively prove the attack’s origin. Security researcher Kevin Beaumont, speaking on Bluesky, clarified that Musk’s statement omitted a crucial detail: The IP addresses involved were, in fact, global, not limited to Ukraine.

Either way, it remains unclear when the disruption will be resolved. We will likely have to sit tight until we hear something from X/Elon Musk or when services appear to stabilize.

Let us know in the comments if you’re facing issues with X, either on the app or the website.
