PCB Stops Reduction in Match Fee of National T20 Cup

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has swiftly addressed concerns over the potential reduction in match fees for domestic cricketers participating in the National T20 Cup. Naqvi has directed PCB officials to maintain the current compensation structure, ensuring that players’ financial incentives remain unaffected.

Recent reports had suggested that match fees for domestic players in the National T20 Cup were set to be drastically reduced, with figures indicating a drop from PKR 100,000 per match to just PKR 10,000, and even less for reserve players, who were to receive only PKR 5,000 per game. However, in response to these concerns, Naqvi made it clear that no changes would be made to the existing fees.

In an official statement, a PCB spokesperson confirmed that Naqvi had instructed Abdullah Khurram Niazi, the Director of Domestic Cricket, to ensure no changes are made to the compensation scheme. “The PCB Chairman has immediately halted any reduction in match fees for all players in the National T20 tournament,” the spokesperson said. “Additionally, an immediate review of match fees has been ordered.”

Naqvi’s intervention highlights the PCB’s ongoing commitment to supporting domestic cricketers, especially in a format as vital as the National T20, which plays a significant role in developing emerging talent and providing exposure at the national level.

The National T20 tournament is set to begin on March 15 in Faisalabad, and Naqvi’s action ensures that players can compete without concerns over their financial compensation. The tournament continues to be a crucial platform for young cricketers aiming to make their mark and advance to higher levels of competition.
