Google has officially released Android 16 Beta 3, marking a crucial step toward its final release. With this update, Google has brought the platform to the Platform Stability milestone, finalizing all APIs and system behaviors. Consequently, developers can now start confidently optimizing their apps, knowing there won’t be significant changes ahead.
Google has confirmed that just one more beta update will arrive in April. This upcoming release will primarily focus on bug fixes and final optimizations, ensuring a smoother experience before the official rollout.
Following this, Google is expected to release the final stable version of Android 16 sometime in Q2 2025, likely before the end of June. Once released, it will first be available for Google’s Pixel devices, with other manufacturers following suit in the months ahead.
Notably, Google has also made a major shift in its Android release strategy. For the first time in years, the company plans to introduce a minor Android update in Q4 2025, arriving between October and December. This suggests a more structured approach to updates, potentially delivering more frequent feature improvements throughout the year.
With this latest beta, Google has introduced several accessibility and privacy enhancements to refine the user experience even further.
As Google continues refining Android 16, the company is actively collaborating with smartphone manufacturers to ensure a broader rollout across a variety of devices. Now that Platform Stability is in place, Google urges developers to finalize their apps to ensure full compatibility before the stable release.
With the final beta coming in April and a confirmed release window before June, Android 16 is quickly shaping up to be a significant update with improved accessibility, security, and audio enhancements.
