Pakistan Hopeful of $2 Billion Loan from IMF

Pakistan is hopeful of securing a $2 billion loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which includes a $1 billion loan installment and $1 billion for climate financing.

Sources within the Ministry of Finance told ProPakistani that the request for the $1 billion climate financing in addition to the expected $1 billion loan tranche was made during recent talks.

There is a possibility of both the loan installment and climate financing being approved in a single disbursement. However, the climate financing part of the loan is expected to be disbursed in installments.

Sources said that the IMF delegation has assured that the request will be presented to the Executive Board for approval.

The loan approval from the Executive Board is anticipated in April or May, following the completion of economic review talks.
