Xiaomi’s Redmi A5 4G Unveiled with a Large Battery for Under $100

Xiaomi is preparing to launch the Redmi A5 4G in Bangladesh, coinciding with the release of the Redmi Note 14 series on Thursday, the 20th. Ahead of its launch, the Redmi A5 is already appearing in stores which has revealed everything there is to know about the phone.

Design and Display

The Redmi A5 4G features a 6.88-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, likely utilizing a 720p+ LCD, although this detail has yet to be confirmed. In terms of design, the Redmi A5 features your usual budget phone look with significant bezels and a curved notch.

Additionally, it features a side-mounted fingerprint reader on the side atop the power button. The phone will be available in multiple color options like Black, Blue, Green, and Silver, as shown below.

Internals and Software

While not officially confirmed, rumors suggest that the Redmi A5 is powered by the Unisoc T7250 chipset. This 4G-only processor consists of two Cortex-A75 cores (up to 1.8GHz) and six Cortex-A55 cores (1.6GHz), along with a Mali-G57 GPU (850MHz). This configuration is comparable to the Helio G81 Ultra found in the A3 Pro but is expected to be slower than the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 used in the A4, which also supports 5G.

Cameras

The rear camera of the Redmi A5 has transitioned to a 32MP sensor, down from the 50MP sensor used in earlier models. There are mentions of AI features, although specific details remain unknown. The second camera is likely a low-resolution depth sensor or a showpiece to make it look like a dual camera system.

Battery and Pricing

The Redmi A5 is equipped with a 5,200 mAh battery, similar to that of the A3 Pro and A4 models. It reportedly supports 18W charging but comes with a 15W adapter included in the box.

The base model is approximately $90 which aligns with the pricing of the non-Pro variant of the Redmi A3. Additionally, there are rumors that the Redmi A5 hardware may be marketed as the “Poco C71” in certain regions.
