Oppo has just added two new devices to its mid-range portfolio, introducing the Oppo A5 and the Oppo A5 Energy Edition. Both phones join the previously launched A5 Pro in China, bringing updated hardware and design features to different price segments.
They also share notable traits, like IP69 certification and ColorOS 15, to enhance durability and user experience.
The vanilla Oppo A5 features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and up to a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smooth visuals for gaming and video playback. An 8MP selfie camera sits in a small punch-hole cutout, while an under-display fingerprint scanner maintains a clean front aesthetic.
The Oppo A5 Energy Edition, on the other hand, sports a 6.67-inch LCD panel with HD+ resolution, targeting a more affordable tier. Both devices come with IP69 certification, and Oppo highlights ultra-thin bezels to give each phone a modern appeal.
Under the hood, the Oppo A5 relies on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset paired with up to 12 GB RAM and 512 GB of storage, running ColorOS 15 based on Android 15. It incorporates 360-degree NFC for convenient contactless services.
Meanwhile, the Oppo A5 Energy Edition runs on the Dimensity 6300 chipset, also providing 360-degree NFC and shipping with the same ColorOS 15 interface for a consistent software experience.
On the Oppo A5, a large camera island features a 50MP primary shooter and a 2MP portrait lens, with the other two circles reserved for the LED flash and aesthetic balance.
The Oppo A5 Energy Edition packs a 50MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor for portrait shots, designed to meet everyday photography needs in a more budget-friendly offering.
The Oppo A5 houses a 6,500 mAh battery supporting 45W charging, and it is available in Zircon Black, Crystal Diamond, and Blue. Prices start at around $180 for the 8/128 GB model, rising to $275 for the top 12/512 GB variant.
The Oppo A5 Energy Edition includes a 5,800 mAh battery with the same 45W charging capability, released in Amber Black, Jade Green, and Agate Powder colors. Its 8/256GB base model starts at $165, going up to $220 for the 12/512 GB version. Note that these are Chinese price tags and international prices will likely be higher.
