Huawei has introduced the Pura X in China, bringing together design elements from both book-style and clamshell foldable smartphones. This new approach aims to deliver a device that is relatively short but notably wide when unfolded, offering a different user experience compared to more conventional foldables. Below are the key highlights of the Huawei Pura X.
Design and Display
Thanks to its hybrid design, the Pura X measures 143.2 mm in height and 91.7 mm in width when fully open, and 91.7 mm by 74.3 mm once folded. A 6.3-inch LTPO OLED main display sits inside, featuring a 16:10 aspect ratio, 120 Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 2,500 nits.
The outside cover has a 3.5-inch square panel placed next to a triple-camera module. Notably, Huawei has designed the phone so that it can be used for calls while folded, placing the earpiece near the LED flash on the cover side.
Internals and Software
Huawei did not disclose the phone’s chipset at launch, but Gsmarena has revealed that it’s the Kirin 9020 SoC, the same as the Mate 70 series. It is a self-developed chip by HiSilicon and debuted in November 2024.
The phone runs HarmonyOS 5.0, Huawei’s proprietary operating system. Huawei highlights advanced thermal management courtesy of graphite-based elements with a thermal conductivity rating of up to 2,000 W/m·K. Certain memory configurations support satellite connectivity, though this feature is limited to Chinese satellites.
Cameras
A trio of cameras lines the back cover. The primary shooter is a 50 MP wide-angle unit (f/1.6, RYYB sensor, OIS), joined by a 40 MP ultrawide lens (RYYB sensor) and an 8 MP telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom and OIS. A spectral sensor, previously seen in the Mate 70 Pro, also appears here.
For video calls, Huawei has added a 10 MP front-facing camera in a punch hole on the main display, though you can just use the main camera for selfies with these types of phones.

Battery and Pricing
The Pura X contains a 4,720 mAh battery split into two cells, supporting 66W wired and 40W wireless charging. Prices begin at $1,035/ for the 12 GB RAM/256 GB storage model. The highest-tier version, offering 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, retails at $1,380. Buyers can choose from three standard colors—Black, White, and Silver—or opt for one of the special Collector’s Edition finishes in Pattern Green or Pattern Red.
Sales in China start on March 21, with no current plans confirmed for an international release.
