Sahibzada Farhan Shatters Batting Records in National T20 Cup

Sahibzada Farhan sent a strong message to the Pakistan Cricket Board and PSL franchises once again during Peshawar’s semi-final against Abbottabad, smashing another century to power his side into the National T20 Cup final. His latest heroics further cemented his place in the record books with a string of stellar performances in the ongoing tournament.

Sahibzada Farhan’s incredible consistency has seen him rack up 588 runs in just six innings, setting a new benchmark for the most runs in a single edition of the National T20 Cup. This feat not only rewrites the tournament’s record books but also puts him alongside Fakhar Zaman, who amassed 588 runs in PSL 2022—the highest by any Pakistani batter in a T20 competition. The key difference? Fakhar needed 13 innings to reach that mark; Farhan has done it in less than half.

The right-hander kicked off his record-breaking spree with an unbeaten 114* against Lahore Whites before following it up with scores of 62, 76, 162, 26, and 148*. The highlight of the tournament was his blistering 162* off 72 balls against Quetta Region, featuring 14 fours and 11 sixes, which shattered Kamran Akmal’s eight-year-old record for the highest individual T20 score by a Pakistani batter (previously 150).

Beyond just individual milestones, Farhan’s stunning form could propel Peshawar Region to National T20 Cup glory tonight. But more importantly, it’s making a strong case for his return to the national team. The 29-year-old has played nine T20Is for Pakistan without much success, but this campaign could be his ticket back due to others’ struggles. His performances also serve as a reality check for PSL franchises that overlooked him in this year’s draft.

With the National T20 Cup finale on the horizon, all eyes are on Sahibzada Farhan—will he cap off his dream run with a title, and more crucially, will he earn that long-awaited Pakistan recall?
