German Consulate Karachi Introduces New Waiting List System For Visa Appointments

The German Consulate General in Karachi has changed its visa appointment booking system for Schengen and long-term visas.

Due to high demand, applicants will no longer be able to book appointments directly. Instead, a waiting list has been introduced that requires individuals to register their names first. Appointments will then be allocated at a later stage in chronological order based on available capacity. This will definitely increase the waiting time for visa approval and could create problems for urgent applicants.

The consulate has emphasized that the new system aims to ensure fair and efficient allocation of visa slots. It has urged applicants to carefully complete the waiting list registration with all required details since appointments will only be assigned once the information is correctly and fully submitted.

The consulate has warned that there is no need to use an agent for registration, as the waiting list process is free of charge. The policy does not apply to Opportunity Card/Chancenkarte applicants, who can still book appointments directly.

The announcement, dated March 25, 2025, underscores the consulate’s efforts to streamline the visa process amid growing demand.
