The Punjab government has decided to introduce legislation for the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Treatment and Research Institute. A draft of the proposed law has been prepared by the provincial health department.
According to the draft, the institute will operate under a 13-member board headed by the Punjab Chief Minister. The hospital aims to offer free cancer treatment to underprivileged patients, while others will be able to receive care through full or partial payments.
The draft also mentions that hospital staff will not be considered government employees. To support its operations, the institute will be allowed to collect donations.
The proposed structure includes a Chairman, Dean, Administrator, and Directors for Nursing and Finance. The draft act will soon be presented in the Punjab Assembly for approval.
