PSL X to Feature Innovative Match Officiating System for First Time

The upcoming 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL X) is set to usher in a new era of technology-backed officiating in Pakistan. The league has confirmed the full-scale integration of the Match Officiating Technology (MOT) powered by Hawk-Eye Innovations across all matches.

While some elements of MOT have been used in previous editions, this is the first time the league will roll out the complete suite of tools for every fixture. The move will align the PSL with the top global leagues regarding match officiating standards, broadcast quality, and fan engagement.

While the real-time Decision Review System (DRS) inputs and automated no-ball detection are the highlights of the match officiating system, PSL matches will also see ball-by-ball over-rate tracking and live umpire communication throughout every game this season, courtesy of a robust tech infrastructure. Each venue will also feature an on-site Hawk-Eye technician working alongside officials to ensure smooth and consistent implementation.

One of the standout upgrades this season is the introduction of ball-by-ball over-rate monitoring, accessible in real-time to both teams and viewers. Match officials will now use handheld tablets to track over rates and trigger instant reviews, improving accuracy and reducing delays. The league’s broadcasters will now have access to multi-angle replays, embedded umpire audio, and live clips for analysis to elevate the viewer experience.

Key Features of MOT in PSL X:

  • On-field and off-field umpire communication system
  • Multi-screen replay viewer
  • Auto no-ball detection via ultramotion cameras
  • Real-time DRS and innings timers
  • Tablet-based logging for third umpires
  • Instant clip access for match referees
  • Embedded audio from umpire mics for enhanced reviews

With these match officiating system upgrades in place, PSL X promises to not only deliver top-tier cricket but also raise the bar in how the game is officiated and experienced by fans around the world.
