The countdown is on for a significant chapter in women’s cricket as Lahore gears up to host the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifiers, with matches getting underway from April 9 at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium.
In a welcome move for cricket lovers, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that entry to all matches at the venue will be free of charge—an effort to draw big crowds and boost support for women’s cricket in the country.
Gaddafi Stadium will host a total of eight ICC Women’s World Cup qualifiers during this round, featuring some of the top players from around the world battling it out for coveted World Cup spots.
Pakistan and Ireland on April 9 will be the first game to take place at the stadium before the return to action on April 11, when Ireland takes on the West Indies.
Bangladesh and Ireland on April 13, and Pakistan against the West Indies on April 14, will also take place at the same venue before Scotland enters the fray on April 15 against Bangladesh. Pakistan’s third outing on the same ground will be against Thailand on April 17. The penultimate game at the venue will see Ireland go up against Scotland on April 18, while the group stage will conclude with Thailand facing the West Indies on April 19.
