For the first time in its history, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is set to host the opening ceremony of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) — with a grand celebration lined up to kick off the tournament’s landmark 10th edition on Friday, April 11.
The glittering ceremony is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM, setting the stage for the much-anticipated opening clash between defending champions Islamabad United and arch-rivals Lahore Qalandars, two-time PSL title winners. The first ball of the new season is slated for 8:30 PM under the Pindi lights.
But before the on-field action takes over, Rawalpindi will play host to a star-studded opening ceremony that blends tradition, culture, and contemporary music.
Friday night’s show in Rawalpindi promises something for everyone — from soulful Sufi melodies to high-energy modern performances. Abida Parveen, the Sufi music icon, will mesmerize the crowd with her voice, while Ali Zafar, the perennial voice of PSL anthems, will also be part of the ceremony alongside Young Stunners.
Adding to the excitement, the artists behind the official PSL X anthem — Abrar ul Haq and Natasha Baig — will also take the stage to perform live during the ceremony.
No PSL opening ceremony is ever complete without a dazzling fireworks display — and fans in Rawalpindi can expect a visual spectacle to cap off the entertainment before the cricket begins.
While Rawalpindi has seen its fair share of thrilling PSL matches over the years, Friday night will mark its debut as the host of the league’s showpiece curtain-raiser. With a star-packed lineup and a clash between two of PSL’s most successful teams to follow, the city is all set to write a new chapter in its cricketing history.
PSL X is here — and Rawalpindi is ready for the spotlight.
