Adobe Photoshop and Premier Pro Are Getting AI Agents to Make Life Easier for Professionals

Adobe is rolling out AI agents for Photoshop and Premiere Pro, designed to simplify the editing process by suggesting and executing context-aware edits. According to a blog post by Adobe’s CTO of digital media, Ely Greenfield, these AI-driven features should help both novice and experienced users.

AI Agents in Photoshop

In Photoshop, Adobe’s “creative agent” will be accessible through a new floating Actions panel. This AI tool will analyze your photo and suggest edits based on context. For example, it might recommend removing people from the background or blurring the area behind the subject to create a deeper field of focus. Users can click on the suggestions, and the AI will automatically carry out the tasks.

For long-time Photoshop users accustomed to manual photo manipulation—such as tedious masking and layer creation—this development should help save time. Adobe has already incorporated AI features like Distraction Removal, which allows users to delete unwanted objects or people. The new AI agents will take these features a step further, making photo editing even more intuitive and efficient.

Natural Language Prompts

Users can simply prompt the AI to perform tasks, making it easier to learn how to execute complex steps. The AI can also make additional changes based on continuous prompts or leave users to make manual adjustments.

AI Agents in Premiere Pro

For Premiere Pro, Adobe will build upon its new Media Intelligence feature, which already analyzes videos for objects and composition. The upcoming AI agent will assist editors in creating rough video cuts by making educated guesses based on your input. It will also help refine shot choices, adjust color, mix audio, and more. Adobe has already launched Generative Extend, which uses AI to add seconds to clips for smoother transitions.

Upcoming Release and Future Plans

Adobe will showcase the first AI agent for Photoshop at its Max event in London on April 24. While AI may not replace human creativity, Adobe’s new tools aim to make the editing process more efficient and user-friendly, helping both new users and seasoned professionals expand their editing capabilities.
