Karachi Sets Up Cattle Market for Eid ul Azha

In preparation for Eidul Azha, the first truck loaded with sacrificial animals has arrived at the Northern Bypass cattle market, signaling the early launch of one of the city’s biggest seasonal livestock bazaars. The arrival sparked excitement among onlookers, especially the youth, who welcomed the animals with traditional drum beats and dancing.

Shahab Ali, the Administrator of this year’s market, shared that preparations began soon after Eidul Fitr — much earlier than in previous years. The inaugural truck, owned by livestock trader Javed Bhatti from Ahmedpur Sharqia, brought in 27 bulls and cows.

Ali highlighted several improvements in this year’s setup aimed at enhancing the experience for both traders and buyers. Parking fees have been slashed by 50% compared to last year, and traders are now permitted to bring their animal fodder. In addition, all sacrificial animals will receive free veterinary check-ups.

To ensure proper animal welfare, the administration has arranged for each large animal to receive 30 litres of water daily, while small animals will be provided with 8 litres — all free of charge.
