Bangladesh Women continued their red-hot form at the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2025, brushing aside Scotland Women by 34 runs to retake the lead from Pakistan at the top of the points table.
Batting first, Bangladesh posted a commanding 276/6 in 50 overs, courtesy of a measured innings from captain Nigar Sultana and half-centuries from both Fargana Hoque and Sharmin Akhter. The Tigresses then produced a clinical bowling effort, led by Nahida Akter’s four-wicket haul, to restrict Scotland to 242/9, despite a late lower-order resistance.
With this victory, Bangladesh sits at the top of the table with six points from three games, all wins, and a tournament-best net run rate of +1.494. Pakistan Women, also undefeated, trail narrowly behind.
In the day’s earlier contest, Ireland Women got their first points of the Women’s World Cup Qualifier by overcoming the winless Thailand Women’s cricket team. After posting a massive 305/4 on the board, Louise Little’s 5-wicket haul helped her side ease to a 46-run win.

With just a few matches left, Bangladesh and Pakistan have all but booked their spots in this year’s WODI World Cup. However, nothing is set in stone just yet. Bangladesh have important fixtures coming up against West Indies and Pakistan, meaning that by the end of it all, everything may come down to net run rate.
Despite all the uncertainties, Pakistan and Bangladesh look well-poised to punch their tickets to the highly anticipated event.
The action will continue after a day’s break, with Bangladesh taking on West Indies and Pakistan taking on Thailand the same day.
