Pakistan’s red-ball domestic calendar is set for a major chapter as the President’s Trophy Grade-II 2024-25 has gotten underway. Stretching across eight cities and involving 27 departmental teams, the tournament promises a deeply competitive battle for promotion, prestige, and a significant prize purse.
The tournament will unfold in Abbottabad, Haripur, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sheikhupura, and Swabi, with matches being played over three days—except for the grand final, which will be a four-day affair from May 22 to 25. In total, 85 matches are scheduled to be contested, offering a vital platform to over 400 players from across the country to demonstrate their red-ball prowess in front of selectors and stakeholders.
This edition of the Grade-II tournament carries more than just financial incentives. While the winner will pocket PKR 5 million and the runner-up will receive PKR 2.5 million from a total prize pool of PKR 7.75 million, the stakes go far beyond monetary rewards. The champion side will earn promotion to the elite President’s Trophy Grade-I for the 2025-26 season, replacing Eshaal Associates, and with it, the chance to compete among the top-tier domestic outfits next year.
The format is straightforward but unforgiving: 27 teams are split into four groups, with the top two sides from each group advancing to the quarter-finals, set for May 14–16. The semi-finals will follow from May 18–20, with the venues for the knockout rounds to be announced later.
