NDMA Warns of Heavy Rain and Hailstorm in Many Areas

Pakistan is bracing for intense weather conditions on April 18 and 19, with heavy rain, dust storms, and hailstorms predicted across various regions. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued a weather warning, urging citizens to stay alert and take necessary precautions.

The National Emergencies Operations Center (NEOC) issued the alert on Thursday, highlighting that Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and several parts of Punjab will experience severe weather over the next two days. The areas expected to be most affected include Chakwal, Gujrat, Jhelum, and central Punjab, including Faisalabad, Hafizabad, Lahore, and Sargodha.

These regions could experience strong winds, heavy rainfall, and hail, causing potential disruptions. The NDMA warned that the storm could result in power outages, accidents, and significant damage to crops, especially in Punjab.

The severe weather may also pose a risk to vehicles and property, as seen in Islamabad on Wednesday, where a heavy hailstorm shattered windows of vehicles, damaged buildings, and uprooted trees.

Authorities have advised the public to stay informed through the NDMA Disaster Alert mobile app, avoid unnecessary travel during the storm, and stay away from weak buildings and trees.

Farmers are urged to take precautionary measures to protect their crops from the expected severe weather. The NDMA emphasized the importance of preparedness during this challenging weather period and urged citizens to follow safety guidelines.
