In a shocking incident in Lahore, police arrested TikToker Kashif Zameer and filed a first information report (FIR) against him and several officers under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) for disrespecting the Punjab Police uniform in a viral video.
The video, which went viral on social media, shows the TikToker wearing a police uniform at a wedding ceremony. In the video, Zameer hands a tray full of currency notes to real police officers and then showers the notes on the guests. The FIR states that this act harmed the dignity and respect associated with the police uniform.
The situation escalated when the TikToker, in an attempt to add to the video, altered the police personnel’s uniforms using artificial intelligence (AI) to change their colors, further compounding the controversy.
Reports have exposed a deeply troubling issue within the Punjab Police, with Kashif Zameer allegedly leveraging his connections within the force for personal gain.
It is shocking that officers, sworn to uphold the law, are reportedly working under Zameer’s direction for as little as Rs. 5,000 a day.
As a result of this incident, an FIR was filed against Zameer and the involved police officers under the PECA Act, which addresses offenses related to electronic crimes.
