Punjab Announces Free Plots Under ‘Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar’ Scheme

The Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) has approved a new initiative to provide free 3-marla plots to deserving families under the ‘Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar’ program.

The decision was made during PHATA’s 101st governing body meeting, chaired by Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yasin.

Speaking at a separate event in Lahore, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced that over 30,000 houses have already been built under the Apna Ghar scheme. She added that individuals without land will be allotted 3-marla plots completely free of cost.

During the meeting, PHATA also decided to recover compensation from regularized properties, reclaim encroached agency land, and accelerate digital initiatives such as E-FoS and PLAS.

The agency will partner with private developers on affordable housing projects, with regulatory amendments approved to facilitate this collaboration.

Going forward, PHATA will operate based on the new district divisions defined by the Board of Revenue. All proposed updates to PHATA’s rules, regulations, and relevant laws will be submitted to the Punjab Cabinet for final approval.
