How to Win Rs. 20,000 by Reporting Non-POS Invoices to the FBR

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) recently revived its Point of Sale (POS) prize scheme as part of its efforts to clamp down on tax evasion by exposing fake receipts.

The scheme encourages customers to shop at FBR-registered businesses connected to the authority’s digital system.

In return, they stand a chance to win cash rewards ranging from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 20,000 through a monthly lucky draw.

How the Scheme Works:

  • Shop at FBR-Registered Stores: Only purchases from tier-one retailers and restaurants integrated with the FBR system qualify.
  • Check for a QR Code: Make sure the receipt has a QR code. This indicates the retailer is linked with FBR’s computerized network.
  • Verify with Tax Easy App: Use the ‘Tax Easy’ mobile app to scan the QR code and confirm whether the invoice is genuine.
  • Avoid Raw Receipts: If the shopkeeper provides a handwritten or plain receipt, refuse it and report the incident.
  • Report Fake Receipts: Take a clear photo of the suspicious invoice, along with the shop or restaurant’s name and location, and upload the details on the Tax Easy app.

Prize Categories:

  • Rs. 10,000 for purchases up to Rs. 5,000
  • Rs. 20,000 for purchases above Rs. 5,000

The winners are selected through a computerized draw every month.
