The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has announced to upgrade Dera Ghazi Khan Airport to support Airbus A320 operations, with project completion expected by the end of next year.
The announcement came during the Authority’s monthly e-Kacheri, chaired by Deputy Director General Works and Development, Sumair Saeed. He stated that the upgrade would enhance regional connectivity and meet a long-standing demand from both residents and airline operators.
The improved airport is expected to allow larger aircraft, boost flight frequency, and open new routes—contributing to the development of South Punjab.
Saeed also shared plans to improve Bacha Khan International Airport in Peshawar, including airside upgrades and expanded parking to handle increasing passenger traffic.
To strengthen national air connectivity, the PAA has floated a business proposal offering incentives to airlines willing to operate flights between Gwadar and other regions, particularly Punjab.
Addressing public complaints raised during the live session, Saeed ordered the compilation of issues like flight delays, missing baggage, and staff misconduct for submission to the Civil Aviation Authority. He also directed that tetanus injections be added to all airport first-aid kits following a complaint from a Lahore passenger.
