Major Service Area on Motorway Closed Temporarily

The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has issued a travel advisory for motorists using the M-2 Motorway from Lahore to Islamabad.

According to the announcement, the Bhera Service Area will remain closed for three days — from April 26 to April 28 — due to ongoing repair and maintenance work.

Travellers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and make necessary stops at alternative service areas before or after Bhaira to avoid inconvenience. NHMP has also urged drivers to follow posted instructions for a safe journey.

In a separate news recently, Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan announced that vehicles older than 20 years will no longer be permitted to operate on the country’s motorways.

He added that commercial drivers will be required to undergo compulsory training, and within the next three months, fitness certificates for all commercial vehicles must be issued.
