Another European Country Makes it Harder to Get a Student Visa

Another European Union (EU) nation has made big changes to its student visa policy.

Poland’s Senate has passed a new law that will require foreign students to show strong language skills before getting a visa. Students will need to prove they can speak at a B2 level in the language their classes will be taught.

The law also puts a limit on how many foreign students each university can accept—no more than 50% of the total student body. If a university goes over this cap, it can’t admit more foreign students until the number drops.

Universities will now have to report if foreign students stop attending classes, and students on visas won’t be able to apply for temporary residence and work permits. The new rules are meant to make sure students come to Poland mainly for education, not for other reasons.
